What you missed while taking your virtual girlfriend to the Ohnoya Resort in Japan…
- Serie A roundup: Bologna 0-0 Inter Milan; Benitez picks up where he left off with Liverpool.
- La Liga roundup: Atletico Madrid 4-0 Sporting Gijon.
- All kinds of fun transfer stuff today; we’ll start with former AC Milan striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, who’s moving to FC Schalke for a fee of around €13 million.
- Huntelaar was made surplus to requirements due to the impending transfer of Robinho from Manchester City; the Brazilian is in Milan for a medical as we speak. Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robino, and Ronaldinho is either a fantastic front line or a fantastically lazy front line; we’ll see in a few months.
- West Brom have snagged versatile outfield player Paul Scharner on a free transfer; Scharner left Wigan at the end of last season when his contract expired.
- Ghanaian World Cup star Asamoah Gyan is at Sunderland awaiting a medical ahead of a possible £12 million transfer from Rennes.
- Besiktas have made a surprise loan offer for Robbie Keane; if he accepts, Keane would join Guti and Ricardo Quaresma at the Turkish side.
- Luis Fabiano has quelled rumors of an impending transfer by signing a two-year extension with Sevilla.
- Fulham and Stoke City are both vying for the affections of Monaco striker Eidur Gudjohnsen.
- Bayern striker Mario Gomez will not join Liverpool on loan.
- Javier Mascherano has moved gracefully to Barcelona without further controversy used his first press conference to call Roy Hodgson a liar.
- Mikel Arteta would consider helping England address their shortage of central midfielders if he were called up by Fabio Capello.
- Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo will miss three weeks with an ankle injury; he’ll be replaced in the Portuguese national side by Ricardo Quaresma.
- Arsenal striker Robin van Persie will miss four weeks with an ankle injury; he’ll be replaced in the Dutch national side by Ruud van Nistelrooy.
- American winger DaMarcus Beasley has joined Hanover 96 on a two year deal.
- Bob Bradley has signed an extension with the USSF that will keep him on as manager through the 2014 World Cup.
First of all, I’m happy for Bob that he got his gig sorted out. Secondly, I think the USSF just made a mistake. I think he’s not the guy to move us forward. I also think for him and us, he’d have been better off to try out the EPL with Villa.
Congrats to Mr. Beasley on landing the 96 slot. I hope he sees more of the field than he does the physio.
Is it just me or does it seem we’re now playing the: Your father stopped in England once for fish and chips? Right, you’re in the squad. Come on, man. England has a ton of talent. What the hell is this ignorance about? No offence to Arteta, but if I were a legit Englishman: This would piss me off.
I’d like to see Eidur back in the prem, so Fulham would be a good landing. I don’t hate Stoke and I don’t like them, they’re the EPL version of Luton to me.
How long of a leash with Inter give Rafa before they decide he’s surplus to requirements, if these results become typical?
“virtual girlfriend”
If only…
And, Candle, Eidur will end up at Craven Cottage because, see, it’s in London. Nothing against the fine folks who live in “The Potteries,” but it’s no Monaco, or Barcelona, or…
I would welcome Eidur.
I miss having him in the prem. I always liked him with Chelsea and I really thought he’d wind up nesting with Spurs. We’ll see how things work out with the Cottagers.
Are you saying there’s no glamor to Stoke, sir? LOL
Ricardo Fuller’s earrings think that Stoke is VERY glamorous.
