What you missed while spending all day playing the WikiGame…
- UEFA Champions League roundup: Zenit 1-0 Auxerre, Dynamo Kyiv 1-1 Ajax, Rosenborg 2-1 København, Sparta Praha 0-2 MŠK Žilina, Young Boys 3-2 Tottenham.
- UEFA Europa League roundup: Aris Thessaloniki 1-0 Austria Wien, Beşiktaş 2-0 HJK Helsinki.
- CONCACAF Champions League roundup: Toronto 2-1 Cruz Azul, Monterrey 1-0 Saprissa, Puerto Rico Islanders 1-1 Olimpia.
- Harry Redknapp has pretty much blamed Tottenham’s bad performance and the injuries to Luka Modric and Jermaine Defoe on the Stade de Suisse’s artificial turf. If I were less mature, I might say that Tottenham got Wankdorfed.
- For their part, UEFA doesn’t see anything wrong with the turf at the Stade de Suisse and doesn’t have any real reason to investigate it.
- Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri will miss a month after undergoing knee surgery following a meniscal injury he suffered against Liverpool Sunday.
- Nicolas Anelka has laughed off the 18 game international ban served upon him by the French Football Federation.
- Brazil manager Mario Menezes has warned Santos forward Neymar about his potential move to Chelsea.
- The injury to Stoke City striker Kenwyne Jones is not as bad as initially feared.
Great! Just what Arsenal needed; another freaking injury. If we ever get all our first-choice players fit at the same time this year, I will actually eat my hat. I’m starting to wish Wenger hadn’t signed an extension just so we could be rid of the injury snakebite and 4 more years of “it’s a young team” that can win but shouldn’t be expected to. I wonder if the club changed the physio staff this summer; clearly the current staff and perhaps the training regimen are setting players up for injury. Aaargh!
You SOB, like I needed something like the WikiGame to further distract me at work.
That game is insanely addictive.
