I think the biggest surprise is Findley for Ching; outside of that, I have no real complaints (and as long as Findley plays as much as Ching did in the last World Cup, it’s a non-issue).
I agree with Mags. I think many people thought Ching was a shoe in. However, I also think the fact that both Buddle and Gomez (from Las Vegas, my hometown!!) made the team is a surprise as well. I don’t think a lot of people of people expected either one of them to make the cut, let alone both of them. I hope Buddle gets some playing time in these next two friendlies. I am interested to see if there really is “chemistry” with Donovan and if it translates to the USMNT.

So it’s finally been announced by Real Madrid that José Mourinho is their new manager. This is not new news at all since The Special One has been telling everyone he’s going to Real even before the Champions League Final.

Also, I picked up ‘Soccernomics.’ I like some of the ideas, and agree with many (or most), but I think it’s really poorly written. It is like the authors weren’t sure about their audience. There seems to be a lot of offhand comments and arbitrary selection of dates / using one example to demonstrate entire trend.

I agree; I wish they’d have stuck with one area and gone with it, rather than using a “shotgun” approach for the whole thing.
So I was surprised that the um, one guy made it and that the other guy was not there. But really, it’s all gonna be about whether whatshisname and NotHimTheOtherGuy play well. So, for the time being, I may be going back to one of my old jobs. The one I really liked before being surprisingly let go, then transferred to another location and left because the #2 sabotaged the #1 and got away with it and the #1 position. Not that location though, and with no responsibilities or leadership required. Just my pure ass-kickingly better than everyone else’s skills.
