Week 1 of Pick’Em saw Bluesfan and Epiblast come away with six, count ‘em six, correct picks, and take the early role as leaders. Congratulations to them! This week’s games begin on Thursday, which is April Fool’s Day for those of us in the USA, and may or may not figure into how the results play out.
The Standings
Here are the complete standings after Week 1. For this season’s Pick’Em, I will be keeping track of each week’s picks and overall standings online. If you can’t wait for the weekly Pick’Em post you can get up-to-date standings and other pick information here on Sunday night/Monday morning.
The Matches
Major League Soccer apparently can’t make up their mind on which of their two websites they are keeping up to date. The new “official” website at www.mlssoccer.com (which translates to Major League Soccer Soccer?!) appears to still be in some kind of beta-testing. It is only hawking the MLS on-line viewing service and does not currently provide TV broadcast information. However, the “old” site does have TV listings. I take no responsibility for MLS’s ineptitude ingenuity in having two sites running concurrently and have absolutely no idea which MLS site will actually have official streaming available/working. Here are the games and TV for this week, all times Eastern, including the almost midnight Los Angeles “derby”.
Real Salt Lake @ Houston Dynamo – Thursday/9:00 PM (ESPN2/Deportes)
Chivas USA @ Los Angeles Galaxy – Thursday/11:00 PM (ESPN2/Deportes)
Chicago Fire @ Colorado Rapids – Saturday/4:00 PM (Telefutura)
New England Revolution @ D.C. United – Saturday/7:30 PM (Direct Kick, MLSnet.com)
New York Red Bulls @ Seattle Sounders FC – Saturday/10:30 PM (FSC/FSE)
Remember to place your picks in the comments section and good luck!

Ok, so I’m late and I get an 0-2 on Thursdays games.
I’m taking Seattle over NY
Colorado over Chicago
Revo and United is a draw.
Looking through my records (yes, I keep records for this; not sure why), Martin should be credited with 3 points for Week 1, not 2. Got Seattle, LA Galaxy and Houston/Dallas right.
You are correct kind sir. Thanks for keeping me honest.
(Although this does put a unexpected wrinkle in my ingenious plan for world domination…..)
