Last week I asked you to find the names of the pair of people- one a footballer, one not- to which each clue referred. “Name” could mean first, last, nicknames or some combination of them.
Before we go any further, let’s get one little bit of ugliness out of the way- I screwed up the answer to the first question. The names may rhyme, but they don’t fit the criteria I gave you. So, each of you will receive a score of at least 10% on this challenge.
That, combined with the other answers they got correctly, puts our own Mags and regular Jeff P. in the clubhouse with the lead.
1. An American Transcendentalist and an English international.
Amos Bronson Alcott and Theo Walcott
2. A famous Scottish chef and a Welsh international.

3. An Enlightenment philosopher and a midfielder from the Cote d’Ivoire.

4. A well-known film critic and a German midfielder.
Roger Ebert and Patrick Ebert
5. A Scottish defender and a guitarist who played with Joe Strummer and Mike Watt.
Zander Diamond and Zander Schloss
6. A Belgian international and a washed up actor.
Jelle van Damme and Jean Claude van Damme
7. A Boca Juniors midfielder and a former protege of Prince.
Cristian Chavez and Ingrid Chavez.
8. A Japanese midfielder and a science fiction actor.

9. A Chilean international and a former Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion.
Pedro Morales and Pedro Morales.
10. A Central Coast Mariner and a former major league pitcher.
Danny Vukovic and Pete Vukovich.
And now you see why nobody will play Trivial Pursuit, Cranium, or any other game with me.
I’m back tomorrow with the new challenge
Jean Claude van Damme is in no way washed up. He just decided to go out on top.
I’m only agreeing because I’m scared of him.
As an aside, I’m pissed that I missed the Ebert and Takei questions because I was SPECIFICALLY looking for players with those names. My Googling failed me badly on this one.
Sometimes being wrong is better than being right.
Hahahaa – no one in my family will play Trivial Pursuit (or pictionary) with me either. But You scare even me, Fuse!
