• Leeds United striker Jermaine Beckford was named the League One Player of the Year for the second time in three years on Sunday; this is possibly because most people can’t think of another League One player.
• Roman Pavlyuchenko’s goal against Blackburn means that he’s now scored nine goals in twelve appearances for Tottenham.
• Rafa Benitez is fearful that Fernando Torres will want to leave Liverpool if they don’t finish in the top four this season; Torres, however, could do something about Liverpool’s final position if he’d quit pouting on the field and start scoring some more goals.
• Good news, though: Daniel Agger says that he won’t walk away from Liverpool because he’s not a quitter. He IS incredibly injury prone and prone to lapses in concentration, however.
• Final note on Liverpool: Portsmouth manager Avram Grant has played Liverpool five times and has yet to lose a match. This is important because Portsmouth travels to Anfield for a Monday night game today.
• Lionel Messi and Gonzalo Higuain both scored hat tricks for their respective clubs in Spain.
• Wayne Rooney scored his 31st and 32nd goals of the season against Fulham on Sunday.
• Hertha fans calmly accepted that this wasn’t their year stormed the pitch with steel bars after Hertha lost 2-1 to Nuremberg; the loss puts Hertha on the bottom of the Bundesliga table.
• German legend Franz Beckenbauer thinks that German international Rene Adler “looked a little bit stupid” against Argentina.
• Landon Donovan has returned to the LA Galaxy after his succesful loan stint with Everton.
