What you missed while a bunch of movies I’ve never heard of won Oscars…
- FIFA has embraced the new technology available to them flatly rejected the use of video and chip technology for the World Cup.
- Bayer Leverkeusen lost for the first time in 25 matches in a 3-2 defeat to 15th-placed Nuremberg on Sunday.
- Wes Brown – who has featured prominently in pretty much every major Manchester United loss this season – will have a scan on his foot to see if he broke a metatarsal against Wolves on Saturday. I swear, this club is the luckiest club ever.
- Cesc Fabregas has been ruled out of Arsenal’s Champions League octofinal match against Porto tomorrow with a recurrence of the injury he suffered against Burnley earlier this season.
- Sir Alex Ferguson will have £80 million to spend in the upcoming summer transfer window. In unrelated news, it will now cost £500 to get a cheap seat at Old Trafford.
- Marcos Braz, a Flamengo club director, says that Adriano has a drinking problem and has temporarily been removed from the team.
- Avram Grant is not ready to commit to Portsmouth beyond the end of the season, which is kind of okay because there might not even be a Portsmouth after end of the season.
- Mikel Arteta was on fire for Everton in a 5-1 beatdown of Hull City. Landon Donovan also did pretty well, scoring the fourth goal and assisting on the fifth. Jozy Altidore also played.
- FA Cup: Reading 2-4 Aston Villa; John Carew’s hat trick sealed Villa’s comeback from 2-0 down.
- Inter is only four points ahead of AC Milan in Serie A after racking up four consecutive draws.
- PSV Eindhoven lost for the first time in almost a year as NAC Breda came from a goal down to win 2-1. PSV still lead the Eredivisie table.
- According to this squad sheet thingie from “The Guardian”, Liverpool have never lost to Wigan in any competition ever. That means tonight’s probably going to be historic.
- Four Chinese referees were arrested as part of an ongoing matchfixing scandal in China.
- Endurance Idahor, a Nigerian striker playing for Sudanese side Al-Merreikh, passed away after collapsing during a match on Saturday.
- Rangers, whose total debt of £31 million is actually less than the annual payment on loans that Manchester United and Liverpool have to make, is under takeover talks with a London property developer.
- MLS All-Star Conor Casey has signed on for three more years with the Colorado Rapids.
Landon also deserved a 2nd assist, but…yeah. Feed the Yak, and he’ll fire wildly into the 27th row.
They sure do like their Landon Donovan there at Goodison, don’t they?
And for good reason, too. I’ve been hard on him in the past for his lack of testicular fortitude, but his play in the EPL (Suck it, Barclays) has been exceptional, except for one bed-shitting at White Hart Lane.
I’d imagine that the people of Everton never gave a shit about labor negotiations in MLS until just a couple of weeks ago. I also heard Chelsea might also be interested in him, but I can’t really see that working out ever.
According to the BBC rumor mill, Chelsea is going to offer 10,000,000 pounds for him.
Hey Mags, after that tip that Liverpool were going down, got any predictions for tomorrow that I could possibly make a financial benefit from?
