First, a big thank you to all of those who had kind things to say regarding my last (much longer) Ross County post. For those of you who haven’t jumped onto the bandwagon yet, there’s still plenty of room.
In more important news, the quarterfinal draw of the Scottish Cup was made today and County have been drawn away to Hibernian. While keeping in mind that this is the furthest County have ever gotten in the Cup, there is a bit of disappointment in the draw. If County wanted a big “money-making” draw, Aberdeen or one half of the Old Firm would have been better. If County wanted to progress to the semi-finals, a match against Raith, Kilmarnock, or St. Mirren would have been better.
Instead, the Staggies and the Hibees will meet for the first time ever in a competitive match at Easter Road in Edinburgh on March 13. Hibernian may be the most “on form” team in the SPL just now- they’ve only lost one match in all competitions since late September!- and the general consensus is that County should play for the draw and force Hibernian to travel to Dingwall for the replay. This, of course, would benefit the club both financially and competitively.
The full draw is as follows:
- St. Mirren/Rangers v. Dundee United
- Hibernian v. Ross County
- Kilmarnock v. Celtic
- Aberdeen v. Dundee/Raith Rovers.
So, all of that being said…’MON THE COUN-TAY!!
