Today the New England Revolution traded midfielders Jeff Larentowicz and Wells Thompson to the Colorado Rapids for defender Cory Gibbs and goalkeeper Preston Burpo, as well as allocation money and a 3rd round selection in the 2011 draft. Here is the rationale behind this trade as I see it:
