What you missed while reading up on the anatomy of jellyfish (slow news day on the jellyfish front, guys; sorry)…
- Your FA Cup results: Liverpool 1-2 Reading (aet), Newcastle 3-0 Plymouth.
- Fortunately for Liverpool, the Maxi Rodriguez deal was done BEFORE he watched them capitulate like drunk prom dates to Reading. No backing out now! He’s locked in for three and a half years, and the deal was a free transfer (which is about £2 million less than originally reported).
- Ironically, Reading goalkeeper Adam Federici’s performance against Liverpool might be the thing that gets him a transfer to Liverpool.
- Seriously, guys. Reading? What the hell was that?
- Galatasaray claim to have signed Australian defender Lucas Neill from Everton. Neill signed for Everton from Blackburn four months ago.
- Whoever the new CSKA Sofia coach ends up being, he’ll have to win the league and cup double if he wants to avoid being sacked. No pressure or anything.
- Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor (who, admittedly, has a lot on his mind at the moment) says not to read anything into his wearing of an Arsenal shirt on live TV the other day.
- Philippe Senderos wants to leave Arsenal so that he’ll have an outside chance of playing for Switzerland in the World Cup.
- Partizan Belgrade striker Adem Ljajic, who was headed to Manchester United last year before they backed out of the transfer, was signed by Fiorentina.
- Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Sevilla wasn’t enough to keep them from being knocked out of the Copa del Rey; this is the first tournament that Pep Guardiola hasn’t won since taking over at Barcelona last season.
- “The Guardian” is reporting that Portsmouth goalkeeper David James will join Stoke City until the end of the season.
