I do my very best here at ATD to keep “on message” (FITBA! FITBA! FITBA!) and to avoid being “message-y” about anything not football related- politics, religion, etc., but I’m going to break with that for this one post.
This little Rev is my niece, Sadie.* She’s almost 20 months old and, as you can see, she’s already hard at work preparing for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. Maybe I will succeed in grooming Sadie to be a soccer player who loves punk rock and the Red Sox, or maybe she’ll defy me and love field hockey, country music and the Yankees- it actually doesn’t matter to me at all.
It doesn’t matter because her being “here” will always be enough. She’s here because when her dad- my little brother- was still a teenager somebody donated a kidney to him and saved his life- that somebody was our sister. We consider ourselves lucky beyond belief that he’s been healthy since then. For him to become the father of the little peanut in the picture, well, that’s just more than we ever thought possible.
So, if your team spits the bit on Boxing Day and falls even closer to the relegation zone, just take a step back and a look around and be thankful for what you still have. If that doesn’t do it for you, the transfer window opens in a week.
Be well.
*Yes, I bought here the whole outfit, shoes included. There’s even a Revs t-shirt under her jacket.

It’s incredibly special, lovely, and proof that there *are* wonderful things that can happen. And again, thank you for sharing this with us. *hugs*
