Considering what type of shape their team is currently, injury-wise, he couldn’t hurt them. However, I’m really not sure he’s ready for the physical aspect of the Prem. This would be a good test for him, but I’d be willing to be that Bob Bradley would tell him over and and over and over again to really be careful. There is some harsh tackling in the Prem. Landy is a delicate little thing.
We’ll see.
I’d agree, except that the likes of Shaun Wright-Phillips and Aaron Lennon are both smaller and seem to do okay. No excuses, he’ll cut it or not.
Agreed, but I’d also argue that both of them are also faster than Donovan, and a bit more injury-prone if you think about it. Especially Wright-Phillips. He’s got a Walcott-esque streak of missing three, playing four, missing two, etc.
I just think Winter in the Prem is a harsh time, lots of fixtures, lots of heavy tackling especially in the Cup competitions, so we’ll see. I’m not saying it won’t work, I’m just saying that the US has enough injuries to worry about at the moment.
One thing that would work in Landycakes’s favour is that with Saha and Yakubu returning to fitness, I doubt he’d be expected to play every match – so they could ease him in a bit more.

Yeah, I was thinking something along those lines (that he’s not quite physically ready for EPL). Those guys seem to play at a far higher level than I’ve seen Landy play at (well, for more than 10 minutes at a time anyhow).
I was just wondering if in acquiring him (and assuming he sees any playing time) it will help Everton avoid relegation. They’re pants right now – but that doesn’t mean that getting him might not exacerbate the problem (seeing as how he is not proven at that level of play).
How did Landycakes do on Leverkusen? Was that his only German club?
He returned home because he couldn’t take it, but he was young then. What’s more telling was his last spell in Germany at Munich. Couldn’t crack the lineup and apparently didn’t work all that hard. It would help him to have Timmy Howard there, I think.
hhm, I never realized that he didn’t have the work ethic – I just thought he really liked LA.
On another note, back when Hitzfeld was in charge of Muenich and Elber left for Lyon I remember Elber mentioning that he had trouble adjusting to the intensity of the fitness training in France. That was probably about 8 years ago now, but perhaps that would explain why the German league is a little weaker than its competitors (although fun to watch due to the high flair brazilians and such).
I think it will help, but he’s not the be all end all savior.

At the restaurant I was a Sous Chef at, we had a wood burning forno oven(yes that’s kind of redundant). It made the best ribs/chicken and pizzas.
oh yeah! i always wanted a colonial hearth, with the bread hive in it.
but they’re heat in the round, this is on the top of a soapstone stove. well, not directly, on a baby sheet pan, but still. and as an ex-baker, i should have realized that i needed to reflect more heat to the tops of the cookies.
so what should have been about a 1/2 hour (given the lower temperature) turned into thrice that.
I’ll do better tomorrow night.
