UPDATE: H/T to commenter Drew, who made these 3 mockups based upon this which is the confirmed home shirt. Also Drew provided us with the image you see to the left which, while small, pretty well confirms that this is the real deal.
Last night these two shirts were brought to my attention by loyal reader Bluesfan. I’m not sure how legit these are but the word I was hearing on twitter was that there is some legitamacy to them (and the home shirt is rumored to be white with a grey “sash”. As we asked last week with the new Philadelphia Union shirt, we want to know what you think. Which one’s better? Or do you hate them both. Keep in mind that these are at best rough designs and they’d surely be more refined when the final product comes out.

UPDATE: Thanks to Project 2010 we’ve got an image of the rumored white shirt as well

Thanks for the shout!
Looking at them again this morning, I like them better than I did last night. The white sash still screams BEAUTY PAGEANT QUEEN, but that might just be me…At least we’ve actually got our national colors on these, unlike the black ones they’ve been wearing recently. All in all, I give it an upgrade.
I want to keep our whites we have now but use the blues for our new dark for sure.
The red would be a nice alternate at the same time.
I just with we could have a consistent look and feel with the USMNT kits. How many different designs is this even since the last WC? Makes me think of this article from Slate: http://www.slate.com/id/2168476/ that notes how the team’s identity changes with each new kit. When you see Brazil or Argentina play, you automatically know who it is. The USMNT’s gray jerseys, not so much. Still, nice find.
Just take a look at this. White has remained somewhat of a constant, but there certainly isn’t a definitive scheme where you can say, ok, that’s the USMNT. You’re totally right, theres a good 10-20 teams that you could glance up at a TV and say oh thats this country within 2 seconds, the US is lacking that distinction.
Thanks Adam, great link!
I like the blue one better.
I think the white one with the gray sash will be just as bad as the current white one with the gray horizontal pinstripes- this is one of the worst kit ideas ever.
I’m a sucker for a red kit.
Me too, I’ve got a red USMNT training top from 2006 that I absolutely love.
Agree completely.
Honestly I hate both of these. I like the dark blue/black ones we got goin on right now.
I like those too, but they never wear them (instead it’s that ugly pinstripe Ralph Lauren designed thing).
Bring back Ton’t Tread on Me and get rid of the beauty queen sash.
thanks for sharing those
i dont know if i like them or not, always takes me time to get my mind made up
but i love this kind of rumormill stuff
There’s also a white version floating around…the story behind it sounds slightly more legit:

Thank you, I’ve updated the post to include it.
Two things bother me about these mockups:
First is that they do look like shirts you’d give to student hall monitors/crossing guards.
The second is that the way the sash runs seems to put more emphasis on the Nike logo rather that the US Soccer badge.
Short of actually winning the World Cup…we won’t be purchasing any of these at our house.
i’m really diggin these. the colors are just right, and i actually don’t mind the stripe. isn’t it bringing back a style we had in the 90′s? i thought we had that kind of diagonal stripe at some point.
i would def buy one of these, and they are better than the grey we have now, which is okay, but crazy boring. these have some splash to them.
What, are these a shoutout to Trinidad or something? Horrible kits. It’s better than the stars-and-stripes kit but a step backward from our last kit.
I am the creator of these mock ups. I have redrawn the mock ups based on this picture:

The away kits are based of speculation and have used the same template as the home which has been confirmed.
Thanks for the info
Some other guy found a picture of Dempsey wearing the kit. I will try to make it more viewable and post it (its blurry). All white. I love the all white look!
Really? I’m not a fan of the all-white at all, especially if there’s no color in the shirt (not just on the U.S. uniforms, but anyone’s; it feels way too generic).
Now, white shirt/blue sash/red shorts…THAT would rock.
Ok here is the original picture:

And I tried to scale it down here so it wouldn’t be so blurry.

Don’t know why Dempsey is #10 though.
thank you very much man.
If you have read the Slate article linked in the third response to this piece, you will see that this design has history. The 1950 third place U.S. team wore a uniform with the sash layout. I highly approve of these, except the white one, because gray is not one of our nation’s colors. Plus, if the Netherlands are still using the same away kit they have in the past, they have a white jersey with an orange sash, so way too similar.
Excuse me, I meant the 1930 World Cup, not 1950.
I like the RED one – and I like the retro reference back to earlier World Cup kit designs for the US.
The sash look is very traditional for the US and I think they should run with it. White is my favorite followed by blue and red.
I like it. But I also think we need a consistent theme. Gotta stop completely changing every thing every year.
Agreed, most other countries have one main kit style that they use all the time, the US waffles too much.
Can’t Nike make the swoosh any bigger?
the black ones are easily my all time favorites…. black is universal
The U.S’s away uniforms are a charcoal grey, not black. And the grey sucks.
Team USA crowned Miss Nike 2010!!!!
Congratulations America.

i like these because it looks good and the style actually has history i like the blue and red the best tho and just put in 1950 usa national soccer team and ull know the slash is historic that was the jersey that was worn when the USA beat england in the world cup FINALLY jerseys with history connected to it i say we keep em and people should buy em cause i would and yea i wouldnt mind seeing the USA wear red but watever happened to that blue with the white thin strips used for the copa america THOSE WERE AWESOME
If the National Team stands-out, then the jersey succeeds.
Many fans complain about the inconsistency of the colors and of the arrangement to the uniforms. I argue that this is a strength.
The idea of change appeals more than the idea of tradition. How much tradition is there, to a team that did not qualify for forty years? The only tradition to which the US should adhere, is to include a star, for each World Cup won.
Anyone see a resemblance to those and the ones the US wore in 1950 in the historic victory over England in Brazil. Coincidence?
Didn’t see the earlier posts sorry
When can we see/order these jerseys? I’f like to get one for Christmas.
I don’t like the sash, and I agree strongly with the comments about the US having ONE JERSEY and sticking with it. I just hope it isn’t this one.
These are alright. I would like the blue one more if it were a darker blue with a red sash, and maybe the white jersey with a blue sash…
These jerseys are a let down from the current kits. The sash is ugly. They would be better as just solid colors with an updated badge, including an eagle perhaps.
I, for one, am glad the US has changed it’s jerseys because we have a history of truly atrocious jerseys (see ’94, the blue and stars AND the wavy lines, ’98. ’02 was OK, and ’06 was probably the best of the previous bunch). So we are getting better and I think this design is a vast improvement. That being said, I do like the red jersey w/ blue stripe a bit better, but I think the blue one looks good, too. The one major change I would like to see would be with the white uniform. I think it would look a lot sharper with a red stripe, making a LOT more similar to the 1950s jersey. I also think the crest and Nike swoosh should be switched, with the crest a bit smaller (well, both a bit smaller) than it is now. That way, the crest has a prominent position, in the middle of the sash, not Nike (although I suppose it could be argued that Nike is more of a crest of the US anyways).
Again, at the end of the day, I do like it, and I disagree with the notion that the black jerseys were better, as black has no prominence in the US flag or history (the Dutch wear Royal orange as a tribute to their history, not so much to the little bit of orange in their flag). Keep it red, white, and blue.
I actually wanted to make a remark to be able to thank you for those precious facts you are writing at this website. My incredibly long internet lookup has at the end of the day been honored with reputable facts to share with my contacts. I would assume that we site visitors actually are definitely endowed to be in a decent community with very many wonderful individuals with good hints.
