Rafael and Fabio da Silva. Not necessarily in that order.
Typically speaking, there’s only one way a card can be overturned after it’s been given: when that card is a case of mistaken identity. And leave in to the referee’s favorite antagonist, Sir Alex Ferguson, to get himself into just that situation.
The incident in question occurred during Manchester United’s Tuesday Carling Cup match against Barnsley. According to the ESPN minute-by-minute, at about the 83′ Fabio da Silva commits a foul on Barnsley’s Jamal Campbell-Ryce; this tackle results in Fabio being booked by referee Chris Foy, and the match continued without incident.
The only problem? The foul was actually committed by Fabio’s twin brother (and fellow Manchester United player) Rafael da Silva. According to the Daily Mail, the situation will be cleared up with a meeting of the regulatory commission next Tuesday, at which point the card will be transferred from Fabio to Rafael.
Since this is pretty much the only situation where it makes complete sense to get two players confused, I think we can give Chris Foy a pass; since Manchester United won the match 2-0, I have a feeling Fergie’s not going to be going after him in a press conference any time soon.
SAF is actually feverishly preparing the defense that the card should in face be awarded to their 3rd, less talented brother: John O’Shea da Silva. 22 looks like like 20 and 21 from a distance without glasses.
Or the fourth one: Owen Hargreaves da Silva. Since he never plays it won’t matter, will it?
“While walking up to the ref to receive his card, Hargreaves broke his foot, sprained his ankle, torn his ACL, MCL, and PCL, dislocated his hip, threw out his back, suffered a concussion, and fell victim to a split end. Manchester United’s medical staff called the day ‘his best in months’ and ‘a complete success.’”
Why are the Jonas Brothers on my website?
Truthfully, I know that Rafael’s the one on the left because Fabio always looks goofy. That should’ve tipped off Foy right away (goofy looking one = Fabio).
That’s a great article I have come across. It’s my first visit. And I really like it very much. Thanks for the information sharing with us.really very nice.Keep it up.Keep blogging.
