Well we’re through our first weekend of the EPL, and while you’re sitting around waiting for the midweek games you’ve gotta do something, so why not read through some links and what not.
- Pictured above is Sky Sports new Score Centre application for the iPhone and iPod Touch. I highly reccomend it as you get scores to every match in Europe as well as live commentary, lineups, formations, and stats. It’s free too, so if you have one of those devices, there isn’t any reason not to get it.
- Our friend Weed from The Sportress of Blogitude sent along a tip that Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo is going to play in a charity soccer match.
- Also from the Sportress, don’t pull your teammates hair, what good does that do you?
- As a bit of self promotion, I wrote what turned out to be an extremely long beginners guide to following the game at The Phoenix, so long infact that I broke it into two parts. Part one is here, and part two is here.
- Landon Donovan got Swine Flu the same day Shakey wrote this, coincidence? Not at all.
Now, go enjoy the rest of your day, the summer’s almost gone.

RE: the Sky Sports app for iPhone/iPod touch, there is one reason not to get it.
It requires an update to the 3.0 version of the iPhone/iPod touch OS – and if you have an older version of the iPod touch, it’ll cost $10 to get that particular upgrade. I’m on v2.2.1 right now, and haven’t had a need to upgrade just yet…although it seems like more and more recently released apps are requiring the update.
ESPN ScoreCenter provides scores for most of the major European leagues and competitions if you need that – but I can’t make any promises regarding formations and live commentary. It does work with v2.2.1 of the iPhone/iPod touch OS.
Yeah the 3.0 update is somewhat useless for the touch.
ESPN score center is good, but it’s one downfall is the fact that you need a page for every single competition you want to follow, personally I’d rather use the soccernet mobile scores page as it gives a list of every game being played that day. I think the site and the espn app will give live commentary when available, just as I’m guessing the sky app probably won’t have play by play on a league 2 match
I suck for not linking your articles, they were really excellently done.
Do I want to know about the Arsenal avatar? It feels like you should be rockin’ the Spurs chicken-thing today of all days.
Eh, not a big deal, but saw the email from weed and figured I might as well post them and some other stuff with it.
