We couldn't photoshop in Bacary Sagna?
We’ve made it to August, thank goodness. We’re now two weeks away from the start of the English Premier League, 3 weeks from Serie A starting, 4 weeks from the start of La Liga, and the Bundesliga starts NEXT WEEK! Thank you, Germany.
Today sees the first day of the Emirates Cup go forward, with Rangers taking on PSG and Arsenal dealing with Atletico Madrid. After the mess in Manchester during the 2008 UEFA Cup final, I’m a bit surprised that Rangers were chosen for this competition, but I’m sure it doesn’t hurt that Rangers supporters do travel and do spend money. As you can see, the poster still shows Kolo Toure, who’s now plying his trade for Manchester City, so kudos to the Arsenal PR staff for not getting that sorted out.
The other big meaningless game today happens in Los Angeles as the European and Spanish champions, FC Barcelona, turn up to likely beat the everloving hell out of the Los Angeles Galaxy. This is Barca’s only US summertime appearance, and it’s a shame that it’s on so late for the kids who might’ve enjoyed seeing this match, but I guess that’s what DVR’s are made for. It’s otherwise a very good day for televised football. Let’s see what we’ve got. All times EDT.

So once again, if you’re so inclined, you can spend almost the entire day on the couch with some truly lovely matches. Make sure to send up some good wishes for Sir Bobby, he will truly be missed. I believe this was his last public appearance.
Actually, Seattle’s going to be playing Barca on Wednesday or Thursday (I forget which). Even more fun: Real Madrid is touring the East Coast, complete with Ronaldo, next weekend.
And actually the eredivise started yesterday, not that anyone really follows it around these parts.
Actually, since the matches on ESPN360.com and Comcast HSI customers just gained access to the service this week, I might start following the Eredivisie a bit. Might help if an American goes on a team there, though (Eddie Johnson, I’m looking at you).
Yeah I saw that and got excited, then I remembered I USED to have comcast for internet last year but switched a while back.
Hop back on board! The financial reaming does eventually regress from a blinding, crippling pain to a dull ache that flares up on the 1st of the month, give or take.
Haha, well I should be moving here soon so I might just have to do that. Qwest sucks anyways
That’s all very nice, but the result of the weekend has already happened in the Co-operative Insurance Cup:
“The County” 5 – Montrose 0
WOO!
I really just need to finally cave and get GolTV, even if it means I get a whole bunch of Spanish channels I don’t need.
Also, I don’t understand why Kolo wasn’t taken out. It’s not like their graphics people don’t have the master file with each individual photoshop layer. All they’d need to do is a 30 minute quick fix and go through and change all the images. When they brought out the white away shirts, Henry was in a lot of the pictures, but they managed to photoshop him out or do some creative cropping to remove him.
For the first time in a long time (ever?) I’m happy to have Comcast. Just got FSC and GolTV, now ESPN360. Is there such a thing as too much footy?
Also, glad to see the blog getting good attention. Keep it up fellas.
Too much footy? No, never.
