The Royal Footballer
Sir Bobby Robson passed away last evening at the age of 76. Sir Bobby had long battled against cancer, but it appears the dreaded disease finally got the better of him.
Sir Bobby had a distinguished playing career for both Fulham and West Bromwich Albion, scoring 133 league goals, and he added 20 caps for England that saw him score 4 more goals.
He managed Fulham, Ipswich Town, PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto, Barcelona and ended up at Newcastle United. He also managed the English National Team in 95 matches, losing only 18 while winning 47. He was made a CBE (Commander of the British Empire) and knighted in 2002, both honours coming for contributions to the game of football.
His loss is a hammer blow to the game of football in England as he was a true titan and well-loved by all.
Rest in Peace, Sir Bobby.
