Avoiding the Drop

With four teams competing in the CONCACAF SuperLiga, the margin for error in our little Pick’em has gotten thinner than usual. There were only six games to pick from this week, and some of those games featured teams with rosters weakened by the Confederations Cup. In short, it was a random, random weekend in the MLS, and the pick’em results reflect that.

And let’s not mince words: the results weren’t pretty. Read on after the jump.

Here’s how we did this week:

So, on one hand, we had a lot of people get two points. On the other, we had three different participants get no points at all.

The overall results, of course, don’t change all that much. jhawk90 moved up a couple of spots, Two Yellows is alone in first place, and the rest of us pretty much stayed put.

Next week’s schedule starts on a Wednesday, even though neither of the two games are nationally televised. This would seem to defeat the purpose of midweek games; why ESPN2 couldn’t get the Galaxy-Dynamo game on Sunday to move to Wednesday I’m not sure, but it seems pretty stupid to make me stay up until 10:00 on a Sunday when you could get my attention in the middle of the week.

Either way, here’s the schedule (which will see New York and Toronto play two games in three days and Colorado play two in four, creating fixture congestion for no real reason):
