A few days ago, in the burning wreckage of the matches against Italy and Brazil, many were calling for Bob Bradley’s head.
Then, the US did the improbable by beating Egypt and getting some BIG help from Brazil.
Some are sticking to their guns and still calling for Bradley’s exit. Other, predictably, have begun to backtrack.
If you want to know why I chose these names, it’s because these are the ones are readers have mentioned in this and other “forums.”

Okay, I had to go with the “anybody else” option – I have no honest idea who Grant is, and I’ll be damned if I’ll vote for a German.
This is Avram Grant http://security.org.my/uploads/avram-grant.jpg
Grant is an Israeli who has coached Israel, several teams in Israel, and Chelsea in 2007-2008.
Well, I’ve learnt something today! Several somethings actually, but this one might somehow be relevant.
Avram Grant – former manager of the Israeli MNT, and former interim manager of Chelsea. I believe he works in the Chelsea front office now, but the lads here can set me straight.
I voted Sigi, as I’d suggested him in the earlier thread, and I think he would do well in the position – proven winner in college and domestic league play, so why not?
I just don’t see anyone else doing that much of a better job. Days like today show the team when it clicks, the previous two games were when it does not. I don’t know if anyone would do a much better job motivating.
I dunno, automatischen Waffen might do the trick.
“Dance, motherfuckers, dance!!!”
Clint Dempsey would play hard if Lugash made his dog into a cat.
AVRAM GRANT! AVRAM GRANT! AVRAM GRANT!
If we could convince him to pull a Guus Hiddink, I’d want Roy Hodgson. He has success with underachieving national teams (he qualified Switzerland for the ’94 World Cup after they had a thirty year absence) and seems to have a good eye for American talent (based on the Fulham roster).
Who are all the punters who are voting for “he’s doing the best he can”? Seriously – that’s the problem – if that’s his “best” then he needs to go.
Honestly, I almost voted for that; I only didn’t because his tactics and selection have been subpar, particularly lately. There really is a cap on the talent level that he’s able to put on the pitch, though, and it’s capped because U.S. soccer doesn’t really develop quality players for him to put out there. We have 7.5 times more people than Spain, and yet we can’t seem to find 23 who can play soccer at an elite level; that’s a U.S. soccer development issue, not a national team manager issue.
That said, his tactics aren’t helping the issue at all.
[...] sweat it. For the players, work hard and show what you’re capable of. To the fans, cut out the attacks on Bob Bradley for a little while and get behind the team. As this blogger muses, can we really be [...]
