Following the completely over the top (and, in retrospect, kind of funny) meltdown of Chelsea striker Didier Drogba and the subsequent lambasting in the press done by Jose Bosingwa, the question most people had was whether or not a penalty would be imposed.
Today, UEFA answered that question. ESPN’s Soccernet reports that Didier Drogba will receive a six game ban. Two of those games will be suspended in favor of a two-year probationary period; should Drogba act like Drogba at any point in the next two years they’ll be invoked at that time.
Jose Bosingwa, meanwhile, received a four game ban, one of which is suspended. Bosingwa called refereee Tom Henning Øvrebø a thief in press interviews the day after the incident.
I said, “Good day, suh!!”
